Dear Fellow Outdoor Adventurers,
We began spring symbolically with our first masochistic and yet joyful plunge into the pond at our Vermont cabin a few weeks ago. We will soon be emerging from Vermont's "beloved" mud season and are looking forward to our summer adventures. Our infatuation with Vermont runs as deep as its legendary brown goo so that we even love mud season.
Here are some of our recent and upcoming happenings:
- We are delighted to report that moose have made a wonderful comeback in Vermont. Check out some of our long-schnozzed friends on our recent hike at Brandon Gap in the (appropriately named) Moosalamoo area of the Green Mountains:

- Pyrenees hiking and historic tour de france adventure July 18-28:
We will be offering a special one-time, 10 night/11 day, self-guided departure from July 18 - 28, 2010 that melds the best of our two existing French Pyrenees self-guided hiking itineraries with an opportunity to view two legs of the Tour de France as it passes through the Pyrenees. During this anniversary year of the Tour de France you’ll have an opportunity to see history in the making as the Tour celebrates its 100th year in the Pyrenees. This trip is rated moderate to strenuous. Please visit our Pyrenees page for more information.
- We have continued our "in our backyard" series of day hikes and snowshoeing trips in Connecticut as a way of celebrating and supporting our home state and providing quick get-aways with an attractive price tag. Our guests (and we too!) enjoyed three fun winter hikes to a vineyard in Litchfield, Connecticut on February 6, 17 and 13. We've posted the photos on the Bredeson Outdoor Adventures Facebook page. In celebration of Spring we are offering a day hike in beautiful Washington, Connecticut on March 28. Details are on our Connecticut page at http://www.bredeson.com/outdoor_adventures/hikes/hiking_connecticut.html.

- We had the opportunity to plan a trip to the Gobi Desert in Mongolia and to Seorak-san National Park for a group of eight friends in June.

- Those who love to combine literature, scones, and great walks may be interested in our self-guided trips to England's beauituful Lake District Hiking.
- Deborah spoke on "Transylvania Hiking: Time Travel in Romania's Medieval Countryside" at the Appalachian Mountain Club meeting in Bethel, Connecticut. Please click here for an article featuring this presentation in the New Milford Times. While we are not offering a public departure to Romania this year, our excellent, local Romanian guide is available for private departures. For a sample Romania hiking itinerary visit our Romania page. We are also happy to send you a link to our Romania slide shows: give us an e-shout at info@bredeson.com or call us toll-free at 866-533-4361.
While we continue to expand our Europe itineraries, our North American offerings are also growing. This summer we ran our first ever trip to Whistler, British Columbia. In our beloved Vermont we continue to scout out and offer inn to inn itineraries in locations throughout the beautiful Green Mountain State including Moosalamoo, Stowe, Craftsbury and Woodstock.
We've also been active as volunteers in our home town of Norwalk, Connecticut in advocating for a pedestrian/bicycle trail along the historic Merritt Parkway and through our town, and leading hikes for the Appalachian Mountain Club.
Happy trails ,
Deborah Lewis
